Disgaea 2 Artbook GET!

QUALITY photo taken with cellphone

It was a steal at around $6.50 new. Now that bought it, the next cheapest one is $11. Still really cheap for a 150+ page hardcover, but buying stuff at single digit prices is always worth bragging about. After the $3.99 shipping it is no longer single digit lol. I got it from amazon.com where the shipping to Canada is like $10+ and since humanity has a great problem with paying more for shipping than the actual item, my mom used her connections to get it shipped to her friend’s friend who lives in the USA and made her bring it with her when she visits Canada every 2 weeks. Lol traditional way of avoiding expensive shipping~

My favorite section is the part with all the item names and descriptions. Those are golden.

Also, here’s a picture of the Atelier series artbook I got at Anime North:

I paid full price.

It covers Atelier games 1-11 (Marie to Rorona). I love how the protagonists get younger with each game. Marie from the first game is 19 and has boobs. That’s like, legal! Of course, I’m pretty sure moe hasn’t caught on back in 1997 and Japan didn’t have an obsession with lolis yet. The early Atelier games had pretty generic art, but the cover and the Rorona section has Mel Kishida (and there’s also Mana Khemia which I actually played) and I pulled out my wallet. I completed my first playthrough of Rorona yesterday with the Cordelia ending. I also reloaded and earlier save to get the true ending and normal ending CG. Sad that New Game+ only carries over money, but I guess I can bribe my way through the first year and spend more time grinding and making friends lol. I sold everything right before the ending, including my 50+ pebbles.

Yeah! Shigenori Soejima Artbook GET!!!

I came home to a cardboard box sitting right outside my front door, and almost missed it since I go in from the garage. This time YesAsia was faster with my order since Tokimeki Memorial 4 and the artbook were both available in stock on day 1. My P4 artbook took 2 weeks to ARRIVE at YesAsia main location, and around 3 weeks to ship to my house. Then after my order it got listed as sold out. Man, I lucked out that time.

Anyways, I was so giddy I took some photos of my artbooks.

My artbook and game that arrived today

All my Atlus artbooks. From left to right: Luminous Art (NA version), Persona 3 Official Design Works, Etrian Odyssey Forests of Eternity (NA artbooks), P4 Official Design Works, Shigenori Soejim Artworks 2004-2010

Luminous Art, contains some artwork from LA 1 & 2. This is the artbook that came with preorders of LA2 in North America, where the series was published by Atlus.

P3 Official Design Works. Awesome artbook for P3 fans, has all the character cut-outs and expressions from the original P3

Etrian Odyssey artbook that came with preorders of the NA version of EOIII. Contains backgrounds and characters from all 3 games, but they’re really small =_= I would gladly pay standard artbook price for a giant artbook with full-size backgrounds from EO, since they’re really beautiful.

P4 artbook, with character cut-outs and stuff. This is actually thicker than my P3 artbook, and harder to find too.

Shigenori Soejima Art Works 2004-2010. An artbook consisting of his full CGs, plenty of P3/P4 artwork, including P3P. It also has stuff from Stella Deus, but it’s mostly Persona 3/4. It has the most full CGs, so if you can only buy one artbook and you love the Persona series (or his art), I’d recommend this one unless you really want to see rough sketches and concept art. I also comes with a protective plastic book cover, so there’s less chances of the cover getting bent or folded during delivery.

I’ve also got some other artbooks that I can’t help but take pictures of:

Collection of artwork by KEI, the concept artist for the Vocaloid characters. I bought it in a convention in China, and it’s hardcover. It shows off his soft, bright Vocaloid art early on, but also contains his other works that are darker.

HaruToki artbook, contains stuff from the first two games. I bought this at a convention when I was really into the games. Sadly, it doesn’t include HaruToki 3.

—-

Since I’ve got Soejima’s artbook, I’m taking a break from buying now. I’ve got TokiMemo 4 to play, and I’m expecting ZHP this or next week. I think I can hold back until boxing day.

My greedy heart can never be fulfilled

Shigenori Soejima Art Works 2004-2010?

DO WANT. It’s cheaper on YesAsia, but I’ll wait for my Persona 4 Official Design Works to arrive first. Damn they are slow. I placed the order on September 9th, but it didn’t ship until 09/18. I get it that they have to wait for stock and all, but this slow shipping is killing me. It’s a good thing it’s free, because I am never paying for shipping this slow. I don’t think even HLJ shipped this slowly. Play-Asia has probably the fastest shipping I’ve experienced, but that price…It costs almost 10 bucks to ship the artbook! I guess I’m fine with YesAsia until they prove themselves to be horrible, since I’m in no hurry to get it.

Anyways, this artbook features high quality art from Shigenori Soejima, the character artist for Persona 3 and 4. I haven’t seen scans yet (don’t wanna see scans if I’ve already decided to buy it), but the few full CG arts shown at the beginning of P3 Official Design Works already has it going for him. If you’ve played P3 or 4, you’d probably already know that this guy’s art is very, very good.

Seeing as how the artbook is backordered on Play-Asia, it can wait. I don’t think it’ll be out of print anytime soon. At least YesAsia seems to have plenty of stock. I might want to order something else I want in this shipment too, since YesAsia has free shipping for $39+, and they are slow as hell. Maybe a bargain version of a Japanese game? Although I shouldn’t be buying more games since I’ve got Z.H.P. on the horizon and Etrian Odyssey III to play right now.

Self-restraint is difficult after all. At least I’ve calmed down on buying games, since I’ve got EO3, Mana-Khemia 2 and a whole bunch of other stuff. Plus, what’s playing a Persona game without playing NG+? NONEXISTANT! Yeah, so P4 is still on my to-play list. P3P is also lasting me on the PSP scene until Zettai Hero Project. After the game-buying craze, now it’s artbooks and merchandise. I’m starting to understand the female classmates who go shopping every other weekend XD I sure envy Nagi Sanzennin now. Being able to buy countless items off Amazon and NEVER notice the price? Perfect life.
