…And a vacation isn’t complete without games, right?

I may have the social decency to pretend to be a polite teenager in front of random relatives instead of being glued to my handheld device like how I normally am, but dammit I need games for the airplane ride because how on Earth do I not play games during such a time where the games are begging to be played and my thumbs have to move? Also, because Chinese internet is slow and an ass to foreign sites, I’ll need my games to substitute for the net.

…And look, I’m bringing 6 games for my 2-week stay just to satisfy my terrible attention span! Although with most vacations, I end up bringing a bunch of games and only touching 1 or 2 because I’m hooked to them and a lot less ADD than I imagine myself to be. I’ve got my Ao no Kiseki, but in the case I need a break from that, I brought along Blazing Souls (SRPG I was playing before Ao arrived), Star Ocean (ARPG, in case I’m twitching for action) and Warriors of the Lost Empire (bought for $6 entirely on a whim, saw “hack and slash” on the back and thought this might just be short enough for my airplane trips). Also I’m flying from Canada to China and I highly doubt my PSP is going to last a double-digit amount of hours, so I brought along my DSLite. I’ve got Devil Survivor 2 in case my SRPG needs come up, and Glory of Heracles for a generic, easy turn-based game that I will play when watching airplane movies because I need to twiddle my thumbs.

As you’ve probably guessed, having nothing to do on an airplane trip is my nightmare. There was this one time 3 years ago where I was flying home from China, and my PSP ran out of batteries and so did my DS because I forgot to charge it. Even my iPod died on me, and the airplane movies either weren’t interesting, or I had watched on the trip to China. It was a terrible experience. Trying to sit still without some kind of distraction was a disaster, and I ended up eating 5 cups of instant noodles back-to-back because I was bored.

2 year blog anniversary hooray!

Milla~~

Hnnnng Tio >.<

(have some quick celebratory doodles)

I also happened to be finished with my exams today. They were not that bad, but honestly my school is pretty damn easy when it comes to sciences and maths. Humanities are a terror on a whole new level, but I studied a total of five minutes for all my exams combined, since I had math, chemistry and physics this semester. Yeah, talk about being a good student. I doze off too quickly when I try to look over notes or textbooks, so I just played games and chilled before the exam.

Hmmm…what did I even do this blog year?  Probably quite a lot, but I barely remember any of it. Certain things feel like they happened so damn long ago. It’s a bit difficult to believe that a year has passed since I played Trails in the Sky, but if something happens to remain fabulous to me for so long, it’s a kami-ge in my book. Come to think of it, I started playing the Gagharv trilogy around a year after I started the Kiseki series. Oh yeah, I played the Muv-Luv series and Subarashiki Hibi. I recommend both of them strongly, although Muv-Luv will probably appeal to a wider audience. I also played all the Ys games available for PSP this past blog year. Falcom’s Ys IV remake is coming to the Vita this fall, and there’s no reason for XSeed to pass on this one. I also played Tales of Graces, which was really fun and made me go out and get Abyss and Xillia. Luminous Arc 3 was also a satisfying game that I actually played to 100%.

There’s some other stuff I played that were OK, but nothing outstanding.  My backlog is still huge because I keep buying new games and beating those instead of playing what I already have, but the summer is here so I should be able to clear at least some of my PSP backlog. I’m hooked onto Xillia at the moment for console games, and will get Meruru soon, but if I manage to clear them then Nocturne is next on my list.

I’d like to believe that my Japanese has improved, but I’m not sure sure. I guess I’ve been playing more games in Japanese this year, so it has improved? I also started writing for Organizational Anti-Social Geniuses, which is pretty fun and I sometimes cover games that I was too lazy to review here.

So overall it was another fun year, since I played lots of games and visual novels. I haven’t done anything productive with my life at all, but I’ll play while I’m young. The grumpy jaded persona can come later, or never at all.

Anime North, Day 1!

I didn’t do too much today, except derp around the Dealer’s Room. I found a stand that sold import games, and bought Tales of Xillia. I wanted to get Ao no Kiseki if they had it, but they didn’t (they have Vantage Master Portable for $30 though…maybe I’ll buy it tomorrow) so I got Xillia. I don’t need more console games because I have a gigantic backlog, but oh well. I’ll start working on my backlog soon.

Toronto public transit is scary, I am never using it again unless it’s absolutely necessary. It took me 2.5 hours to get to the Toronto Congress Center (Google maps told me it’d be 1.5 hours), and then another 2 hours to line up.

Anyways, I’m gonna bring more money tomorrow and derp around the Dealer’s Room more.

I’m hooooome

It feels fabulous to be home. When I left for the USA I only played 3 hours of Tales of the Abyss. After I got home today, my in-game timer read 21 hours and my 3DS activity log says I played for 25 (lol 4 hours of dying against hard mode bosses before I said “fuck this shit normal modo go”). I also played at least 5 hours of Grandia. I played games for over 25 hours during a 4-day 3-night trip so it was obviously a very interesting vacation.

No, seriously. Visiting famous universities was just a cover for some middle-aged women to get their husbands to take them to the USA to shop. We looked at universities on Sunday because malls were closed and went shopping for the rest of the trip. I gotta say, until I got to visit GameStop, touching Harvard’s statue’s foot was more interesting than shopping. I like my stores to just have a simple list of items like in RPGs, thank you.

I bought Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch ($5) to complete the Gagharv trilogy for the PSP (now I gotta start playing), and also Arc Rise Fantasia for $15. What’s with me buying these games with bad translations recently? Since my backlog increased again, I gotta put off Xenoblade. I’ve also got Xenosaga I and III sitting in the drawer for over a year, untouched.

Once I get my laptop back I’ll start Kamidori. Alchemy + RPG + eroge? Do want.

I’m off to the USA + Tales of the Abyss

I’ll be away from my dear PS3 for 4 days since I’m going on a family road trip to the states to look at famous universities or something. I don’t really care about the universities since we’re gonna be visiting the ones that I’ll never be able to get into, so it’ll just  be me, my 3Ds, and my PSP for 4 days of campus-visiting and shopping (and by that I mean waiting on a bench while other females in the party go shopping).

I bought Tales of the Abyss to keep me occupied for the trip, since it’s the closest thing to Tales of Graces I can get on a handheld. It’s gonna take a while to get used to Abyss and the TP system, since TP runs out so damn fast. I also tried to sidestep in Abyss and stood  there like an idiot, wondering why I took damage lol. I prefer the CC system since CC recharges over time. Free run is fabulous though. I was having trouble with the first boss on hard, dealing 16 damage per hit to its 15k HP, but then I used free run and approached it like an Ys game. Despite not playing like Graces, Abyss is a solid game so far.

Also, Tear is hot.

I’m on my second playthrough in Graces, trying to get the “Defeat X Boss in under a minute” trophies and learning how to play characters other than Asbel. I love this game, I wonder if there are any other Tales games that use CC instead of TP?

I’m not particularly excited to go to the States at this point, since I can’t think of any games that I really want right now. My next purchase will probably be Atelier Meruru, unless some kind of impulse kicks in or I decide to get Xenoblade Chronicles.

FUUUUU– [+ YG0 Zexa1 ep 28]

My keyb0ard is screwed up. The c01umn 0f keys fr0m 9 t0 . 0n the keyb0ard d0n’t w0rk, s0 n0w I’m stuck typing in ha1f 1eet.  9 and . are fine because I can type them 0n the numpad, but my 0 and 1 have t0 be rep1aced with zer0s and 0nes. It’s painfu1 t0 type and painfu1 t0 read, but easier than c0py and pasting the 1etters each time I have t0 type them.

Anyways, this epis0de has Yuuma due1ing s0me midget kid wh0 fe11 f0r K0t0ri and 1ikes c0nstructi0n. He’s in the Due1 Carniva1 and they due1. His backst0ry is that he is a weak midget but then he saw c0nstructi0n equipment and th0ught “Z0MG s0 str0ng, I wanna be str0ng 1ike that!”

The midget 10ses and Yuuma gets his heart piece. He n0w has 3 heart pieces and te11s the midget that ATK p0wer isn’t everything and there’s sma strength t00.

Unimp0rtant epis0de is unimp0rtant. And I seri0us1y need t0 get my keyb0ard repaired, 0r e1se I’11 end up using ha1f 1eet f0r sch001 papers.

Damn you, school

Or more specifically, damn you, English. Why you give me so much work? Why you no let me play Altered Fable more?

I’m like a month and a half into the semester and this is the same workload I had towards the end of last year. Analyzing books and films = not fun. Especially since I can’t get MuvLuv Alternative out of my mind still and I’ve been comparing everything to it, even films and books that have absolutely nothing in common with it. I’ve also been behind on my gaming and haven’t beat Persona 2: Innocent Sin yet, and Fate/Extra is coming soon. Christmas break, please come soon so I can put my energy towards consoles again.

Oh yeah, and during this busy time, I’m having a huge urge to draw. I’m not a masochist, definitely not.

I wish I’m retired. I may be old and creepy for liking teenage girls then, but the older you are the less shit you give (and take from other people).

Now I remember why I love my handhelds

So I recently got my sexy PS3 and my slave bought me Atelier Rorona for my 20-day-early birthday present, and it is damn addicting. I’m even thinking about it on the bed in the middle of the night. I cannot sleep because I’m thinking about how to stop getting raeped at Ster Highlands by them stupid wolves that get 5 billion consecutive turns (yeah, maybe I should go upgrade my equips. Haven’t gotten new weapons/armor since year 1 and still using the two cheapest people even in year 3 lol) 2 am in the morning. Whenever I had this problem with a handheld game I could just reach for my DS or PSP (right next to bed =) and play until I’m satisfied/sleepy, but I cannot do that with a PS3 since the only working TV is in my parents’ room and I highly doubt they’d be willing to wake up and move out to let my play a game in the middle of the night lol.

I think I’m a handheld person after all, since I do play my games on the go and in situations where I am unable to access the TV a lot. Or I can just get an HDTV in my room and have all of my problems solved, but that’d make either my closet inaccessible or not allow me to leave the room. Even if my dream life is to stay inside my room all day like a hikkikomori, I still need to eat and take dumps.

Yeah! 1 Year Anniversary!

It was exactly 1 year ago from today that I started this blog and made by first post. I feel so accomplished that I managed to regularly update this thing for an entire year lol. Every time I tried to start a blog I would ditch it after a few posts since no one came.

I got something like 17k views this year. It’s not much, but I’m not exactly feeling forever alone either. My most popular post is the Starry Sky in Spring walkthrough that I typed up, and I think the blog got a huge popularity boost after I started blogging Yu-Gi-Oh every week. My art blog had a much better start than this one, but this one has more fabulous memories (cry5D’sendedcry).

Anyways, the most fabulous things during the past blog year:

1) Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s (crycrycry)
2) Persona 3/4
3) TRAILS IN THE SKY/SORA NO KISEKI!!!!!!!
4) G-Senjou no Maou
5) Little Busters

I have 1 more exam and it’ll be summer vacation. I definitely will play a lot~~~~~(and learn to use RPG Maker VX).
