I bought less stuff than I usually do, but this time my items cost more so I ended up poor anyways. There was a store in the Dealers’ Room that was selling Falcom artbooks (even the recently released Kiseki series ones!!!), but they didn’t take them out until Sunday after I bought my stuff and was poor as fuck. The artbooks, as per Anime North tradition, were expensive at $70 each. Still, I plan on paying a visit to the actual store in real life sometime.
The visual novel panel was kinda short. I wished they got a 2 hour panel since VNs in general is a huge topic. I tried recommending Muv-Luv Alternative to a VN newcomer and got yelled at for trying to ruin his soul lol.
Anyways, I bought Tales of Xillia, a stuffed Kyubey, and some figures. Pictures after the cut.
Xillia was bought from a nice store that specialized in imports and “rare” PS2 RPGs. I wanted Ao no Kiseki, but they didn’t have it. I was also disappointed to find out that their actual store was located in the US, so I can’t go there.
Stuffed Kyubey. I found a nicer but smaller one at another store the next day, but I wasn’t about to buy another QB. One of him in my house is enough. Also, my mom called QB cute. I guess that’s what normal humans think of him, huh. He can make lots of contracts with non-otaku girls at this rate.
Udonge from vol. 4 of a Touhou trading figure collection. I’m not into Touhou like I was years ago, but I still like the older characters so I still buy merchandise sometimes. Back during my Touhou years, Anime North had next to no Touhou stuff and now there’s a bunch. I wish it had this kind of popularity back when I was still in the fandom. Considering how Touhou went from unknown to popular at AN, maybe the day where we have a Falcom panel is near!? …I can dream, right?
Nendoroid petite of Homura. She’s from a set of 10 (+1 secret figure, which is Goddess Madoka). I really wanted the Goddess Madoka, but the only store that sold them open box had her for $50 so I was like “no fucking way.” I’d pay that for a Nendoroid, not a petite.
Kyoko, originally a prize from a Banpresto lottery draw. She’s about Nendoroid-size, maybe a tiny bit smaller.
I was this close to buying a Gameboy Color for $15, but decided against it since the games were being sold for more than the console. I have a GBA SP anyways, so the GB Color would mostly be for the looks and feel. There were also lots of RPGs, and it’d be RPG heaven if they weren’t overpriced like hell. Tales of Legendia was being sold for $50-70, when you can get it for $30 on Play-Asia. I expected a $10 difference at most. Lunar Eternal Blue was being sold for $100, so I’m now praying for a remake or a PSOne Classics version. I would have bought Wild Arms 5 if I didn’t have a billion things to play on my backlog.
As a bonus, I found some Luminous Arc 3 cosplayers! Totally unexpected, but awesome.
There’s Ashley, Elulu, Yuu, Shion, and Miria. The Ashley cosplay was really nice.
I got shitloads of Streetpasses on my 3DS. That was real nice. I’m at close to 300 Streetpass tags, only have 4 more puzzles to complete, and even got the 100 Streetpasses in a day achievement. Currently trying to get past poison room in Find Mii II. I also helped a video game store at the Dealers’ room sell a copy of Trails in the Sky! When they held up a copy of the game and spoke of Ys Seven, I just had to jump over and recommend like crazy lol.
