This episode we continue Yuuma’s duel with Jin, with his friends’ lives on the line. Yuuma’s trap card cannot be activated, and he has no monster cards in his hand. Astral tells him that if he doesn’t draw a monster card, he’s screwed. He does draw a monster card, but it’s Kuribolt with a measly 300 ATK. Astral sees something in the card and tells Yuuma to summon it. Kuribolt’s effect can detach all of a Exceed monster’s Overlay Units and special summon a Kuribolt Token for each unit detached. He detaches Shock Ruler’s remaining 2 OLU and summons 2 tokens. He uses the spell card Voltage Summon, which allows him to release a number of Kuribolt tokens and summon the same amount of level 4 or under monsters. He summons Ganbara Knight and Shadow Lizard. The special summoned monsters have their ATK and DEF reducted to 0. He overlays Ganbara Knight and Shadow Lizard to Exceed Summon No. 39, Kibouou Hope.
I’ve been thinking of changing to No. 39’s English name, Utopia, but I decided to stick with Kibouou Hope because it’s catchier. Yuuma attacks Shock Ruler with Hope, destroying it and dropping Jin’s LP to 3800. He then directly attacks with Kuribolt, dropping his LP to 3500. Just as Yuuma is about to declare a turn end, Astral tells him to put down the traps in his hand. He places 2 cards face down and TURN END. Jin starts laughing like a maniac.
Jin’s turn. He special summons Rainbow Shaman, which can be summoned if the opponent has an Exceed monster and the user has no monsters on his field. He then uses the continuous spell Exceed Plant, which is able to become a monster with the same level as Rainbow Shaman. He overlays the two to Exceed summon No. 11, Big Eye. He then activates its effect, removing 1 OLU to control an opponent’s monster. He takes control of Yuuma’s Kibouou Hope, and uses it to attack Kuribolt. Yuuma’s LP drops to 1300. Since Big Eye cannot attack if its effect is used, Jin places one card face down and TURN END.
Yuuma’s turn. He draws a monster card, and Jin activates the continuous trap, Dance of Forbidden Summon, which prevents Yuuma from summoning or special summoning from his hand for 2 turns. TURN END.
Jin’s turn. He directly attacks Yuuma with Big Eye, but Shock Ruler’s effect wears off and Yuuma activates the trap card Kifusagu. When the opponent directly attacks, he can send a monster card from his hand to the graveyard to decrease the battle damage by that monster’s ATK. He sends Dododo Warrior (ATK 2300) to the graveyard, reducing battle damage to 300. He is left with 1000 LP. Jin still has Kibouou Hope, and directly attacks Yuuma with that. Yuuma activates the trap Exceed Wait, which decreases an Exceed monster’s ATK by 800 for each OLU it has. Hope has 2 OLU, so its ATK drops to 900. Yuuma survives the attack with 100 LP.
Meanwhile, the island Yuuma’s friends are standing on becomes even smaller, and Kotori nearly falls off. Jin activates the continuous spell, Tomurai no Mai, which prevents the opponent from special summoning monsters from his graveyard. Yuuma can barely get up from the ground and Astral is disappearing, thinking that it’s the end for him. Jin tells them that there’s one way where Yuuma can save his friends, and that is to surrender and give him his Numbers. Astral tells Yuuma to surrender and save his friends and let only him disappear, but Yuuma refuses. He gives a friendship speech saying that everyone he dueled with is a precious friend of his and he cannot choose one above the other, and that includes Astral. Yuuma finally figures out that the thing with glowing eyes sitting in the corner is not actually Kaito, and Kathy jumps up there and rips its head off with her bare hands and finds out its a statue.
Yuuma says that when he dueled Kaito, he saw that he is not the type to enjoy other people’s suffering and is definitely not the same type of person as Jin. Astral unleashes Yuuma’s main character powers upon discovering the feelings of friendship and the necklace thing shoots a beam to Astral. Astral glows and everyone can see it. They continue the duel.
Yuuma’s turn. He uses the spell card Come Back, which takes back a monster that the opponent took control of. Hope is now back on Yuuma’s field, Astral gives Yuuma a shiney new card, Chaos Number 39, Kibouou Hope Ray. They summon it by overlaying it with its Overlay Units (? bad audio couldn’t catch what it said), and activate its effect: remove one Overlay Unit to up its ATK by 500. They remove all 3 of its OLUs to up its ATK to 4000. For each OLU removed, an oppoent’s monster can lose 1000 ATK. Big Eye’s ATK drops to 0, and Hope Ray attacks it. Jin’s LP drops to 0 and he loses.
Yuuma and his friends run towards eachother, but instead of getting a big hug, they run past him to the air and talk to Astral. LOLOLOL they still can’t see Astral, who left that spot. As they leave, they forget that Jin is still there, and he still has one more Numbers. Kaito comes by though, and takes Jin’s Numbers (along with his soul). Episode ends.
Lol yeah, basically Astral finally understands friendship and that unlocks a shiny new card. Kathy is also officially my favorite girl in Zexal, because she’s awesomely strong. Man, ripping off a statue’s head, able to jump up several stories at a time, and commands an army of cats? Win.
I’ll try to post on Mondays from now on if possible. The lack of school makes me forget when Monday comes.
