Dammit, I’m one day late again because I couldn’t find the raws yesterday. The episode continues the duel between Kaito and Yuuma, after Kaito has summoned two Numbers on his first turn.
Yuuma’s turn. He sets one card (Gogogo Golem) in face-down defense position and ends his turn. He does this because by now he has realized that he can take two hits if he puts it in defense, and doesn’t go off summoning it in attack position.
Kaito’s turn. He activates White Knight Illunimator’s effect, removing one OLU to send a card from his hand to the graveyard and draw one card. He then activates the effect of Gigant Brilliant, which by removing one OLU, its ATK is raised by 300 to 2100. He attacks Yuuma’s face-down Gogogo Golem but fails to destroy it due to its effect. He then attacks with White Knight Illuminator and destroys it, leaving Yuuma’s field empty. Yuuma’s like “oh lol he has no more mnsters I’m safe” but Kaito releases both his Numbers to special summon Galaxy Eyes Photon Dragon. Galaxy Eyes cannot be normal summoned, only special summoned by releasing two monsters with 2000+ ATK. TURN END.
Yuuma’s turn. He summons Gagaga Magician and uses the spell card, Monster Slot, on it. It removes from play one monster in the graveyard that is the same level as Gagaga Magician, and allows him to draw one card. If it is a monster the saem level as Gagaga Magician (lvl 4), then he can special summon it. He draws Ganbara Knight and summons it, and then overlays it with Gagaga Magician to Exceed summon Kibouou Hope.
It cuts to a scene with Mr. Heartland talking to Dr. Faker (god, someone is as bad at naming as I am) about holding a World Duel Carnival in Heartland to lure out all the duelists in the world with Numbers cards. He will let Kaito enter and if he wins, he will get most of the 100 Numbers. He is confient that Kaito will not lose because he created his deck. Then we see Dr. Faker saying that with the Sphere Field experiment (which is literally a sphere of energy), he will be able to bring out the true power of Numbers and use that energy to do something (presumably send more trash into Astral World lol). Kaito’s creepy brother, Haruto, is sitting there sending trash as usual, and enjoying the screams from Astral world. The Sphere Field releases energy like crazy and Mr. Faker tells him to damage Astral World moar.
Back at the duel, Yuuma knows that he needs to go on the offensive because he learned from the duel with Shark that Hope is not invincible against regular monsters and offense is the best defense. Astral is surprised that Yuuma actually matured. Yuuma uses the spell card Hatenkou no Kaze (he used this before but I failed to get a picture) to raise Hope’s ATK and DEF by 1000 until his next turn. He attacks Galaxy Eyes with Kibouou Hope, but Kaito activates the former’s effect: when it battles another monster, remove from play both monsters. Yumma’s attack is unsuccessful, and Galaxy Eyes’ effect brings the removed from play monsters back, and if the other monster is an Exceed monster then Galaxy Eyes gains 500 ATK for each OLU the monster has. Hope still had 2 Overlay Units so Galaxy Eyes gains 1000 ATK to a total of 4000 ATK. Kaito’s annoying robot tells him to take Yuuma’s soul too, and Yuuma remembers back then when the criminal turned old. Kaito yells at the robot, saying that it went too far and scaring the opponent during a duel is the cheapest tactic to use. He reveals to Yuuma that when he takes someone’s Numbers, the soul comes with it. He has no idea where the sould goes. Yuuma sets one card face down and TURN END.
Kaito’s turn. He attacks Hope with Galaxy Eyes and while Hope cannot be destroyed byt it, Yuuma still receives 1500 damage and drops down to 2500 LP. Kaito activates the Quick-play spell Photon Wind, where if he dealt damage to the opponent but didn’t destroy the monster during battle phase, he deals an additional 1000 damage. Yuuma’s LP drop to 1500. Photon Wind also lets him draw a card. He sets one card face down and TURN END. Astral is disappearing bcause Yuuma is losing (and feeling the damage physically), and Kaito tells him to surrender so he doesn’t cause himself any more pain. Since Yuuma’s character type will never allow him to give up, he doesn’t.
Yuuma’s turn. He’s thinking that if he changes Hope into defense position, he can defend from Kaito’s attacks since a Numbers can only be defeated by another Numbers, but Astral tells him that Kaito already predicted that since he got rid of his Numbers to summon a not-Numbers. Astral tells Yuuma to keep going on offense because that is the best defense. Yuuma asks if Astral is scared of disappearing (since Yuuma himself will get his soul removed if he loses), who says that he doesn’t know but he will keep pushing forward. Yuuma is surprised that Astral is still so calm, but I guess that comes naturally since his life is at risk every time Yuuma duels a Numbers and considering it’s Yuuma who’s dueling…Yuuma grabs his necklace and remembers a time where he was a shota and climbing up a cliff where he will definitle die if he fell, and a man standing up at top (likely his father) telling him to KATTOBING! Yuuma decides to officially cooperate with Astral because he is freaking screwed and summons Zubaba Knight. He then activates his face-down trap, Copy Knight. It copies the name and level of a normal summoned level 4 or lower monster and is special summoned with 0 ATK and DEF. It copies Zubaba Knight, and Yuuma overlays them to Exceed summon No 17, Revise Dragon (AKA backup ace monster). He activates Revise Dragon’s effect to raise its ATK by 500 to 2500 and then activates the spell card Cross Attack, which can be used when there are two monsters with the same attack on the field. One monster will be able to directly attack the opponent, while the other cannot attack. He attacks Kaito directly with Kibouou Hope, but the latter activates the trap card Photonize, which negates Hope’s attack and since Galaxy Eyes is light attribute, its attack is raised by that of Hope’s to 6500.
Astral tells Yuuma that he has exactly one chance of making a turnabout. He tells him to set the trap in his hand, Holy Armor Mirror Mail, face down. That card can be activated then the opponent declares an attack, and allows the targetted monster to become the same attack as the attacking monster. He places it face down and TURN END. If you’ve watched enough Yu-Gi-Oh!, then you’d know that if they reveal the strategy they’re gonna use to the audience beforehand, it’s not gonna work.
Kaito’s turn. He summons Photon Cerberus, which prevents the activation of trap cards in the turn it is summoned. He is about to attack with Galaxy Eyes and win, but then Haruto gets an attack and collapses in the middle of his trash-sending of joy and the robot shows a projection of it to Kaito (handy stalking tool!!) who postpones the duel and runs off. *facepalm* seriously, you couldn’t just win right there, right now, take all of Yuuma’s Numbers and THEN rush to your brother? It’d take like an extra minute. Although of course, they can’t have Yuuma and Astral die right here or else Zexal would be finished. Trololol this is just like the first Kiryuu duel in 5D’s where the opponent was about to win and the main character will die, but then gets interrupted due to some timely accident and runs off. Time starts flowing again, and for anyone who got too caught up in the duel and forgot, Yuuma is in the middle of the street with Kotori falling in mid air. The car passes by and they’re both safe, but Yuuma starts angsting about nearly losing a card game in the rain going “WHAT KATTOBING? WHAT DUEL CHAMPION? I CAN NEVER BECOME THE DUEL CHAMPION!!” orz I almost forgot that Yuuma was actually trying to become a duel champion. He screams in the middle of the street, which happens to be completely empty.
At this rate, I’m definitely continuing Zexal. Yuuma has had one on-screen loss and one interrupted would-be loss in 14 episodes, so I hope this becomes the same quality as the first 64 episodes of 5D’s. The next episode preview shows that we’ll see Dark Magician, Dark Magician Girl and Blue Eyes White Dragon!!! OMFG YES! Probably nothing to do with main plot, but yay for nostalgia!
