Yuuma and Kotori are standing around in a shopping mall, watching a live broadcast of some criminal beating up cleaning robots with a baseball bat in that same mall. Astral notices on the broadcast where the camera just so happens to zoom in on the dude’s shoulder that he has a Numbers! So they run to the scene of the crime like a good kid. However some other guy is after Numbers too, and not only does he have a robot that can transform into wings for him, but he can stop time! He breaks through the glass ceiling of the mall and stops time. Yuuma and Astral aren’t affected in the time stop due to main character powers, and the criminal is also able to move. The awesome dude calls himself the Numbers Hunter, Kaito, and challenges the criminal to a duel. The criminal has No. 56 Gold Rat but he lost because Kaito has a magical girl transformation when he equips his duel disk and is therefore an important character. He takes the Numbers, and the criminal turns into an old man. Yuuma rushes to the scene to see Kaito fly away.
Time starts flowing again, but since Yuuma is standing where the criminal is, he gets subdued by the police LOLOLOL. There’s a scene with some creepy kid sending the cleaning robots’ garbage into another dimension to cause some kind of galaxy-wide destruction that we saw in Astral’s flashback in the last episode and then we cut to Kaito reporting in to a creepy glasses guy. They’ve apparently collected 11 Numbers so far and are trying to bring peace to the city of Heartland (the city the show taks place in. Dammit, I think I was better off not knowing the name of the city) Here it is revealed that when Kaito takes a Numbers card, he takes the guy’s soul too and that’s why he turned into an old man. He is bothered by this, but he has been told that if he collects all 100 Numbers, his little brother Haruto will come back. After Kaito exits the room, the creepy glasses guy reports to a even creepier looking dude called Dr. Faker who says some shit about throwing away his humanity to save the world and that to protect Haruto, Kaito will throw away his humanity too. He then mentions something about the Astral World and something that happened on a certain day and swears to destroy them and return the damage they did back to their world because there is no other way of saving the world.
Yuuma has been released, and is at home with Onee-chan and Kotori watching himself get on the news. LOLOLOL Astral asks him why can’t he just tell her about the Numbers but Yuuma is technically banned from dueling so he can’t say anything. The kid sending trash to another dimension is actually Haruto, who is in some tall building watching people at a festival. Kaito comes in, and Haruto asks him why the people are laughing. He says that he does not need the sounds of laughter, but screams. For him to be calm, he needs more screams. Kaito is pained by the state of his brother, who asks him if he is weird. Kaito tells him that this is just a bad dream, and he will free him from it. D’awww. いいアニキだね…
Astral warns Yuuma that if the Numbers Hunter is lookig for Numbers, he will eventually come to them. Yuuma is like “LOL so what? I’ll just win him in a duel!” pffffftt. Such confidence comes with QUALITY dueling skills, I see (although that’s not stopping his plot armour). Yuuma is walking home with Kotori when it starts raining. They decide to run but Kotori is slow and car is abut to hit her on the crosswalk. Yuuma pushes her out of the way but he gets in the way of the car and is going to get hit according to physics, but then time stops before it hits him. Kaito appears, and says that the only people able to move when time is stopped are people with Numbers so Yuuma must have Numbers. Astral tells him to run because Kaito is dangerous, but the latter has some kind of magical energy rope to prevent Yuuma from leaving. It ties Yuuma to Kaito, so he has to duel him. Astral tells Yuuma to leave the duel to him because Kaito is stronger than anyone Astral, let alone Yuuma, dueled before. DUEL! Kaito does his magical girl transformation again lol.
Kaito’s turn. He uses the spell card Photon Veil, which lets him return 3 light attribute monsters back to the deck and add 3 light attribute monsters to his hand. He then uses Photon Lead, which lets him special summon a level 4 or lower light-attribute monster. He summons Daybreaker, whose effect allows him to special summon another monster of the same name if it is special summoned. He does this twice to have 3 Daybreakers on the field. He overlays them to Exceed summon No. 10 White Knight Illuminator and activates its effect, removing one OLU to send one card to the graveyard and draw a card. He sends Light Serpent to the graveyard, whose effect allows it to be special summoned when sent from the hand to the graveyard. Finally, he normal summons Plasma Ball and overlays it with Light Serpent to Exceed summon No 20. Giganto Brilliant (Ant Soil Brilliant). The episode ends here with Yuuma going “did he just summon all those monsters in one turn?”
Finally! The plot! It looks more interesting from now on, and I actually want to keep watching Zexal to see
kind aniki Kaito and his little bro more of the plot about Astral World and Numbers. Glad I didn’t drop Zexal and pushed through the crappy filler with the teacher and the catgirl.
