Continuing from last episode, Rikuo has just summoned No 61 Volcasaurus and declares a direct attack on Shark, who activates the trap card Zeus Breath to negate the monster’s attack. Rikuo puts 2 cards face down and TURN END.
Yuuma’s turn. He summons Goblindbergh, whose successful summon allows Yuuma to special summon a lvl 4 or lower monster. He summons Gagaga Magician (…who couldn’t see that coming?) and overlays it with Goblindbergh (despite Astral’s protests) to Exceed summon No. 39 Kibouou Hope. Rikuo and Kaio start glowing like possessed people and activate the continuous trap Avalanche: when a monster is Exceed summoned, it cannot attack and the player will receive 500 dpoints of damage if they use its effect. Astral is like “lol pointless summon is pointless” and Yuuma places 2 cards face down and TURN END.
Kaio’s turn. He changes Menchi Icebergdon to attack position (1300 ATK) and directly attacks Shark who has 1100 LP left. Yuuma activates Kibouou Hope’s effect to negate the attack, and Shark calls him an idiot (ohoho~ Shark is tsun…oh wait, Yuuma is really an idiot during dueling.). Yuuma’s like “I TOLD YOU, WE’RE FRIENDS!!!!” and Shark makes a moe expression.
Yuuma takes 500 damage due to Avalanche’s effect and his LP drops to 1900. Kaio still has Regent Blizzardon (ATK 1400) and uses that to directly attack Shark. Yuuma activates Hope’s effect again to protect Shark.
FUUUUUU- WHY DO I FEEL SOMETHING FOR THE INTENSE FRIENDSHIP??? I DON’T EVEN LIKE YUUMA, BUT OTL and I thought my fujoshi eyes were gonna get dull when watching a show about little kids…Anyways Yuuma takes 500 dmg again and his LP drops to 1400. He gets knocked to the ground so Shark’s like “Why you so fail and do all this?” but Yuuma acts all tsun and is like “SHUT UP I WAS JUST TAKING A REST!!” why can’t I take off shipping goggles
Then Rikuo activates the trap Volcash which lets him change Kaio’s Regent Blizzardon into defense position (DEF 1400). Kaio uses the spell card Taiki no Hyoudou (The Alert Ice Cave), which lets him increase the level of a defense position monster he controls by 1. He increases Blizzardon’s level to 5 and overlays Menchi Icebergdon and Regent Blizzardon to Exceed summon No. 19, Freezerdon. He removes 1 OLU to restore all of Volcasaurus’ OLUs. He places 2 cards facedown and TURN END.
Shark figures out that the opponents are cheating, and Astral knows that something is up but he doesn’t know what “cheating” means lol. Yuuma’s like “THAT MEANS THEY’RE NOT GOING BY THE RULES” (yes, Yuuma is always talking in all caps) and Astral’s like “OOOOOHHH!!” Basically Rikuo’s and Kaio’s duel disks are modified so that the cards are shuffled in the exact order they want and they know what cards are coming up next. Shark and Astral are serious dueling nerds so they’re like “RRRRAAAAAGE YOU CHEATING! YOU NOT REAL DUELISTS!!!” but Rikuo says that Shark is the real cheater since he saw the opponent’s deck at a tournament. It flashbacks to the tournament, where Shark’s the the waiting room and some guy comes in and scatters the opponent’s deck on a table and leaves. Shark happens to notice the scattered deck and sees Mirror Force. During the duel, the opponent puts a card face down and Shark thinks it’s Mirror Force, and then he proceeds to make his move but then the footage of him seeing the scattered deck shows up and he gets disqualified. Rikuo and Kaio are laughing at Shark’s fear of losing, but then Yuuma’s like “LOL WHAT’S WRONG WITH BEING SCARED TO LOSE I DID IT TOO” and he admits that he used Numbers in his duel with Shark because he was scared to lose and lied about wanting to save Shark. Shark smiles, and tells Yuuma to win the duel.
Shark’s turn. He uses the spell card Exceed Gift, which lets him draw 2 cards if there are 2 more more Exceed monsters on his field. He summons Spiked Sunfish (Harimanbou) and activates the spell card Surfacing which lets him summon a lvl 3 or lower fish type monster from his graveyard in defense position. He summons Big Jaws and overlays it with Harimanbou to Exceed summon Black Ray Lancer. He removes 1 OLU to activate Black Ray Lancer’s effect, negating the effect of Volcasauru until End Phase. Then he activates Harimanbou’s effect to decrease Volcasaurus’ ATK by 500 to 2000. He attacks Volcansaurus with Black Ray Lancer, but Kaio activates the trap card Daishou Koukan (“Compensation Exchange”), which negates the attack but deals damage equal to the receiving monster’s ATK to himself, dropping his LP to 2000. Rikuo activates the trap card The Scorching Depths – Volca Abyss: when an ally receives effect damage, the user gets to look at the opponent’s hand and return any monsters to the deck. He looks at Yuuma’s hand which consists of Gogogo Golem and Monster Reborn, and Gogogo Golem is returned to the deck. Shark places 1 card face down and TURN END.
Rikuo’s turn. Since Volcasaurus’ effect is no longer sealed, he activates it to destroy Shark’s Black Ray Lancer and deal 2100 damage to Shark. Yuuma activates the trap card Damage Diet, which halves effect damage. Shark takes 1050 damage and has 50 LP left. He activates the trap card Hate Crevice. When a monster he controls is destroyed by effect, an opponent’s monster gets destroyed and he receives damage equal to its ATK. Shark chooses Volcasaurus, but Kaio activates the trap card Compulsory Change to change the target to Freezerdon. Kaio takes 2000 dmg and gets KO’ed since he has 0 LP left. Rikuo gets pissed because they knocked out his lil’ bro and starts glowing with a purple aura. He activates Volcasaurus’ effect to destroy Yuuma’s Kibouou Hope, but Damage Diet halves the effect damage and leaves Yuuma with 150 LP. Rikuo directly attacks Shark with Volcasaurus, but the latter activates his trap card Last Entrust, which lets him hand a card to the opponent and end the battle phase. Shark hands a card to Yuuma (which is apparently OK even though the description says “opponent”), and Rikuo activates the spell Twin Volcano, which will deal 500 damage to the opponent during his next standby phase and he can send it to the graveyard to deal another 500 damage. In other words, both Shark and Yuuma are dead when his next turn comes. TURN END.
Shark tells Yuuma not to give up even though he said he hated that phrase back in episode 1. Yuuma’s turn. The card Shark gave Yuuma was Armored Exceed. Yuuma uses Monster Reborn to special summon Shark’s Black Ray Lancer (awesome music starts playing!) and equips Armored Exceed to it. When Armored Exceed is equipped to a monster, its ATK, DEF, Effect and name becomes that of one Exceed monster in the graveyard. Basically BRL becomes Kibouou Hope in everything other than looks. Yuuma attacks Rikuo’s Volcasaurus with Black Ray Lancer and destroys it, leaving Rikuo with 1900 LP. He sends Armored Exceed to the graveyard to let Black Ray Lancer attack again, this time a direct attack towards Rikuo. Rikuo’s LP drop to 0, Shark and Yuuma win.
Astral absorbs No. 61 and No. 19 to recover some memory with screaming sounds in a galaxy like some mass galaxy-wide murder. Yeah. Rikuo and Kaio run away screaming like little girls (literally. Just go listen to Kaio’s voice!). Tetsuo and Kotori (they came last episode, remember?) come up to congratulate Yuuma, who apologizes to the former for lying about using Numbers. Tetsuo forgives him and asks him to duel. Yuuma tries to return Shark’s Armored Exceed, but Shark tells him to keep it and says that he has improved from being a crappy duelist.
Lol Shark is being a bit dere?
WHY CAN’T I TURN OFF MY SHIPPING GOGGLES??? OTL episode was good, and actually makes sense since Shark did most of the work. Volcasaurus is cheap (I mean, its effect isn’t limited to once per turn and it gets to attack after using its effect!). Yuuma says KATTOBING a lot less now, but I’ve realized that whenever he says it he screws up. It’s a warning that says “CAUTION, I AM ABOUT TO DO SOMETHING REALLY STUPID NOW.” I guess coming in to Zexal with no expectations at all was a good choice. I like Shark the best now, I guess I got used to his design so much that his hair no longer bothers me.
