Yu-gi-oh! 5D’s 146 – Aporia vs. ZONE

The gang finally meet back up again with the stopping of the Yuusei Gear. They then head to the final boss area, where our robotic shrimp thing, ZONE, stands on top of a pile of junk. ZONE reveals that he had Paradox go back in time to try and prevent card games from being made (thus preventing the evolution that leads to Synchro monsters and the momentum, and preventing the destruction of the world.). Then there’s a bit of flashback to a scene of Yusei’s duel with Paradox (most likely from the 3D movie, but can’t confirm since it’s not out in North America yet). This means that Yusei has already dueled Paradox prior to the Arc Cradle arc, which clears up a bit about the timeline. However, why was Paradox never mentioned at all in the anime up until now? The creators probably just didn’t want to spoil the movie.

Anyways, usual villain’s despair speech commences, and then followed by the “We’ll definitely defeat you and save Neo Domino City!” speech from our heroes. Yusei says “I’ll save this town that everyone is in–The town that Bruno was in!” S-Such…beautiful…friendship! Nevermind the ways that speech can make Programshipping fangirls happy–this is wonderful friendship!!

Anyways, Aporia, who apparently survived the massive damage he took, comes and challenges ZONE to a duel. He realized that there is indeed hope in this world after duelling Jack and the twins, and wants ZONE to see the hope. So the duel starts, and ZONE’s robot shrimp body doesn’t move. No, two hugeass hands form beside him (duel disk capabilities included, of course) and the stone tablets scattered around the junk suddenly turn into cards and form a deck for ZONE. And ZONE floats in midair.

So Aporia begins, and summons Grannel Core. Then he uses a magic card to destroy it, and uses its effect to summon all parts of Grannel. Grannel’s ATK is equal to the user’s LP, so it starts off at 4000 ATK. He sets one card face down and TURN END. ZONE summons a zero ATK monster, attacks Grannel with it, and ACTIVATES A TRAP CARD FROM HIS HAND. Screw the rules, I am ZONE. Screw the rules indeed. So the trap card Yuusha no Saitei, which reduces his damage received to 0 and activates his monster’s effect. All monsters will be returned to the user’s hand. Then he activates a trap form his hand AGAIN (Majitsushi no Shigen?) which deals 300 points for every card that is returned from the field to the hand. Since Grannel is made up of 5 parts, Aporia takes 1500 damage. ZONE sets one card face down and TURN END. Aporia summons all parts of Wisel with Wisel this time, and directly attacks ZONE. But our robotic shrimp who can screw the rules activates a Trap Card (dammit, ZONE’s cards’ names are pretty hard to catch by hearing, and the HQ video isn’t out yet) that negates battle damage if there are no monsters on his side, ends battle phase, and deals 500 points of damage to the opponent. Aporia’s LP go down to 2000. He sets one card face down and TURN END.

ZONE’s turn. He activates a Continuous Trap, something Eye (hating ZONE’s card names more and more…), which lets him release summon a lvl 10 or higher monster if he has no monsters on his field, but with its attack reduced to 0. He summons his ace monster, Jikaishin Metallion (?)…fuck it, here‘s a picture. He attack Wisel with his 0 attack monster. Jikaishin Metallion can’t be destroyed and reduces battle damage to 0. At the end of the battle phase, all monsters in the opponent’s field will be returned to their hand and 300 points of damage is dealt for each card returned. Aporia takes 1500 damage in total, dropping his LP to 500. TURN END.

Aporia’s turn. He draws the spell card After Glow, which is apparently the card that will allow him to fight and create a miracle. The episode ends with Aporia summoning Skiel Core.
