Yugioh 5D’s 143 – Jack PWNS Aporia, Bruno and Yusei play card games in space

The most direct title I’ve ever given to a blog post. It basically sums up the whole episode.

I’m one day late this week since it’s summative assignment week, and to my surprise the subs are already out! Good job, subbers. It’s been forever since a Thursday release.

So Rua’s Life Stream Dragon can negate all effect damages as long as its on the field, and basically healed Jack, Rua, and Ruka to 2000 LP like an healer in an RPG. Ruka then destroys the field magic and In Jack’s turn, he summons Scar-red Nova Dragon and uses its effect (+500 attack for every tuner in grave) to make its atk points 5500. Aporia activates Chaos Infinity to switch all defense position monsters to attack, and then summon Machine Emperor Soldier Skiel Ein, bringing back Machinicle. This makes Asterisk’s (his worm-thingy monster’s) attack 8300. Rua activates Synchro Big Tornado, which decreases the atk points of one of the opponent’s monsters by Life Stream Dragon’s def points. This is NOT over yet. Ruka activates counter-trap Fairy Breath, which allows one monster to gain 3000 def until end phase if AFD is on the field. Life Stream Dragon’s DEF increases to 5400. This decreases Asterisk’s ATK to 2900. Jack’s Scar-red Nova Dragon attacks Asterisk, and Aporia’s LP drop to 0.

The latter half of the episode switches to Bruno and Yusei, and reveals that Bruno is working for ZONE all along. ZONE wiped his memory so he can become friends with Yusei and make him complete the circuit to summon Arc Cradle. Then some orbs of light near the Yuusei Gear make him magically remember everything. If Yusei defeats him, the Yuusei Gear will stop and they can reach the central gear. They start a Riding Duel, where the background magically changes to a white path IN SPACE circling around a large reddish-orange celestial object that dangerously resembles the Sun. Whoever loses will fall in there and get lost in space. Hooray.

The animation for this episode is intense. Instead of the usual intense shading you see on the bridge of the character’s nose when they are giving speeches, sometimes you see veins pop up there (intense wrinkles?). Woah. Aporia also has a wide ranges of expressions, from LOLWTF to freaking creepy.

Those wires connecting to him BREAK OFF! Man, I guess machines have worse ways of receiving damage from duels than humans ever will.

When they were running away from the falling debris (AKA post-duel mandatory environment damage), the twins grabbed onto Jack’s bike, started screaming due to his AWESOME driving, and ultimately broke off from him after deciding not to trust Jack’s driving. It’s almost like a lampshade hanging on Jack’s numerous crashes lol. On the fangirling side, I must say that I realized how much I love JACK’S VOICE WHEN HE SHOUTS “BURNING SOUL!” Seriously, the phrase “Burning Soul” is high enough on my shounen anime phrase list, and combine with Jack’s alway epic-sounding voice…It’s enough to make my shounen spirit boil! It always make me act like a little boy when watching the final battle of his favorite superhero show. GO JACK GO!!!!! (oh shit wrong gender)
