Finally, the heroine of TokiMemo 4. It’s about time, since I put off going after her for so long due to her seemingly lack of interesting traits. At first she seemed so…”default.” An ordinary, good girl who tries her best at school, is rather popular, and sits next to you. After getting her ending, my opinion hasn’t changed much. She still feels like a “default”, but I guess that’s not so bad. TokiMemo is a game about normal high school girls after all (with some exceptions).
You meet Maki by default on the first day of school, and she is the first girl that you can call to date (Miyako doesn’t count as she only accepts after 13 calls). She volunteers to be the class president, and energetically participates in all school activities despite her average grades (usually at seventies, both the scores and her rank). She joins the Student Council in the first year, and becomes the president in the second year. Her dream is to become a nurse, so she’ll end up going to a nurse school and you can’t go into the same post-secondary education as her.
To get her confession, you need to have one stat above 150, which isn’t hard at all since I never had a playthrough where I didn’t have a stat over 150. This time I completed the game with stats almost good enough for Satsuki Yuu (I was missing 10 points in charm for every stat to be over 200). Maki’s affection is easy to raise, I got her to Tokimeki in March. That’s right, I missed one of her CGs because her affection rose too fast.
Overall, Maki is a pretty well-rounded character. She is popular, became the Student Council President, and tries her best at school, but her grades and athletic abilities are just average and she doesn’t have that much self-confidence. She’s not the perfect school idol, but a rather sociable girl with balanced flaws and strengths. It’s easy to see why she became popular, and was made to be the main character. Someone that players with conflicting preferences can easily accept, but will probably not go “MOEEEEE!!” over like a normal girl. I don’t like her in particular, but I didn’t find her boring or a drag either. I also managed to get a medal in the achievements place for attending all school events.
