Kai is awesome. Probably my second favorite so far. She is a delinquent who constantly skips school events, and basically won’t show up to most events until you get her to Tokimeki. Shortly after getting her to Tokimeki, Kai will reveal to you that she is actually an ojou-sama who is rebelling because she doesn’t want to be bound by her family. At neutral status, Kai is pretty much indifferent on dates, and you won’t be able to get a good answer unless you take her to specific places (I think arcade works pretty well). Also, her two good endings are actually different, and they split in the middle rather than at the end. Instead of the usual you confess/she confesses endings, Kai gets two separate routes: one where she succeeds her father, and another one where she rebels and leaves him. I got the event sometime during the second year, a few months after getting her to Tokimeki. I didn’t meet the requirements for the succeeding her father route, so I got into the outlaw route instead.
I left Kai until later because her confusing routes seemed troublesome. I somehow didn’t have much interest for her despite my pattern of liking delinquent-type girls with a twist in visual novels (Tomoyo from Clannad, Mai from Kanon). I decided to go for her this time because the remaining normal characters interested me even less (lol I got no love for main heroine, white girl with annoying accent or soccer maniacs. Satsuki Yu is fianl boss). I thought I’d end up having a boring playthrough, but I was completely wrong. I ended up loving Kai a lot, and whatever boredom I had during the third year got cleared once I saw the outlaw ending. She becomes very cute in Tokimeki state.
The outlaw ending was awesome because it was a BATTLE ending. You get taken by the SP to Kai’s house, to find her tied up with an extremely angry father next to her. You know where this is all going…boss fight against the father! The first part is a hopeless fight where you get 1HKO’ed, but then through the power of love Kai breaks free from the ropes and comes to your side. Now the battle truly begins. It’s an easy battle nonetheless (Mr. Ryukoji is no Nyx after all), but it’s pretty funny. You bascially do scratch damage to him, but Kai saying “I love you” deals 5000 damage to him, and your reply of love deals 9999 damage to him. Power of love indeed =D Combined with rpg-like boss battle music, this ending is just too awesome. It’s moe, but the “moe” for “burn” (as in “burning battle” type of moe).
Gonna either attempt Kai’s other end, or go for Miyako now.
