Tokimeki Memorial 4 – Kyono Rhythmy GET

And like so, my 2nd successful high school life ended, with Kyono Rhythmy’s confession. Kyono is a musical genius who isn’t too involved in school, and didn’t care to have school friends until you (the main character) comes along. She spends her time writing music, and enjoys listening to different sounds in places. She isn’t in any school club, but I joined the band because it seemed suitable. You first meet Kyono when you have 60+ in art and use the art command. You get a CG of her playing the piano. In your first meeting, you are disturbing her so she tells you off rather bluntly. You meet her a second time when you use the art command with your art at 80-ish, but she is nicer to you since she was finished playing. From this point on, the player can call her out for dates and such.

I really should have liked Kyono more. White/grey hair fitting for an isolated genius, talented at music and a kuudere bishoujo–I really wanted to like her. At the end though, she just seemed too dull, and the ‘kuu’ part wasn’t too prominent aside from the first meeting. Kyono was more dere than I expected, and went into Tokimeki stage really quickly. Her voice is also really soft and dere, which isn’t really moe for me (I like either sharp, deep-ish voice or more energetic dere voice). At the end, I guess I like it when there’s a big difference between normal/friendship and Tokimeki stage because it feels more satisfying. Getting Kyono to fall for me wasn’t all that satifying.

On the plus side, I liked the side plot about the student council asking her to write a song for the school. It adds an interesting bit to a character I’m indifferent to. Also, I thought that every girl will confess under the legendary tree, but I guess not. Kyono confessed in the music room where she first met the player, which is more fitting than the tree and shows that it isn’t the tree’s magic that will be makign the love eternal.

Overall, this playthrough was OK. Kyono didn’t strike my fancy, but since the art stat is easy to raise and so is her affection, I had a lot more freedom to do other things. I enjoyed a ‘fun’ school life where I attended most school activities (when I went for Aki-senpai, I ditched everything and just studied/went to club like mad lol). I got to see Aki-senpai at the robotics contest, and her running the marathon. The marathon event is actually pretty fun to watch, especially how Tsugumi fell and dropped out halfway through during the first year. This time I met 6 girls in total, and got bombed quite a lot OTL Dammit, stop dropping so many bombs on me, Hoshikawa. And Satsuki-senpai, are you really still concerned about some random guy who talked to you twice in high school when you’re now in a first-rate university?

Next, I’m thinking of going for either Yanagi Fumiko or Godou Tsugumi for a more energetic playthrough.
