I finally finished up Yuukyuu no Shounen Shoujo. I dislike playing PC or console games in short bursts, so I had to wait for the day when I could finally be left alone for several hours with no chance of parents busting in on me. This weekend happened to be Thanksgiving, and for one reason or another, family members are out for most of the day so lucky~! It’s like a bit of my summer came back! Something like “I never had a chance to say goodbye to you…so I’ll use my last strength to let you finish the Sharin fandisk before you completely go into the world of school! After this, it’ll be over. I…won’t be able to see you again until next June, so take care.” And thus, our touching reunion ended…wut? Yeah, I’ve got Winter Break coming up in just over 2 months, so I’ll get time then.
Anyways, the Sharin fandisk. I’ve never played an eroge fandisk before, but I must say that Yuukyuu is very satisfying, even with just Houzuki’s chapter (the other ones aren’t translated, and the only one I’m interested in is Eri’s chapter). Maybe this is why fandisks cost as much as the main game? Since Yuukyu expanded on so much.
The Houzuki chapter centers on Houzuki Masaomi, set many years before the events of Sharin. Back then, Houzuki’s full name was Akutsu Masaomi, and he arrived in the same town Morita did for his Special High Class Individual final exam. However, unlike the case with Morita, another SHCI is undergoing the exam too–Higuchi Saburou. The one in command here is Houzuki Ari, a terrifying foreign woman. The two are assigned to Saika Mina, a girl whose obligation prohibits her from having any privacy or opinions, and she cannot offend anyone.
The structure of the story has many intelligent similarities to Morita’s. In fact, the only major difference between Morita Kenichi and the then Akutsu Masaomi was the decision they each made at the end. Although it was pretty obvious from the main game, the Houzuki chapter basically nails it that Natsumi’s ending is canon.
I’m also pretty confused on exactly how old Saburou is. I mean, he picked up Ken by the river during the course of the story, and he mentioned that he already had Ririko with another woman some time before…There’s no way he’s in high school, unless…well, screw it. High school students do that a lot in eroge, and probably in real life too.
Yuukyuu is a must if you played Sharin. It expands into the antagonist’s past, and has an English translation patch. What else can you ask for? And since it’s Sharin, the bawling was pretty much expected. I must have gotten pretty used to it if tears started coming out before the climax CG shows. It’s like, I can already sense crowning moments of awesome with my heart and eyes before my brain can comprehend XD
